Studio 7 Lofts

The owner's goal in this project was to appeal and sell to young urban working professionals seeking housing convenient to downtown Atlanta. To satisfy budget restraints, portions of the only stable structure were retained and the existing parking lot was reused. The remaining buildable footprint on the site was utilized to add as many new lofted units as possible while preserving all trees including a 125-year-old oak whose roots were spanned and protected with custom-designed concrete grade beams.

By using economical materials not typically used in residential structures, offering open plans for flexibility and providing each loft with a private, shaded courtyard, the design achieved the owner's goal in budget and marketability within the desired timeline.
